Forged QN-Type Ball Eye

The QN-type ball eye is a critical forged power fitting used in overhead transmission and distribution lines. It serves primarily as a suspension link between insulator strings and tower components. Featuring an elliptical eye at one end and a standard ball-head structure at the other-designed to mate with socket-type (socket-eye or socket-clevis) fittings-it is widely utilized in high-voltage transmission lines, substations, and distribution network upgrade projects.

Manufactured from high-quality carbon structural steel, the component is forged as a single, integrated piece. This process ensures a dense internal microstructure, high tensile strength, and excellent resistance to both impact and fatigue, allowing it to withstand the cyclic (alternating) loads experienced during long-term line operation. The surface is hot-dip galvanized to provide robust, uniform corrosion protection. Compliant with the national standard GB/T 2314 (Technical Requirements for Electric Power Fittings), the coating offers superior resistance to atmospheric corrosion, making the product suitable for harsh outdoor environments-including mountainous regions, coastal areas with salt spray, and humid climates-thereby significantly extending its service life.

The design is both scientific and practical. The upper elliptical eye allows for flexible connection with other fittings, such as U-shackles or extension links. A positioning block is integrated into the center to prevent excessive rotation during assembly, ensuring stable and accurate installation. The standard ball-head at the lower end mates precisely with WS-series socket fittings; this ball-and-socket articulation allows for minor rotational movement, enabling the assembly to adapt to changes in conductor angles. This helps distribute stress and prevents the insulator from being subjected to additional bending moments, thereby safeguarding the integrity of the insulator.

Standard models include the QN-7, QN-10, QN-12, QN-16, and QN-20, with the numerical designation representing the rated mechanical failing load. Models can be selected based on specific project load requirements, and custom, non-standard specifications can also be produced according to provided drawings or samples. Every unit undergoes tensile load testing (via sampling) before leaving the factory to ensure mechanical performance standards are met.
