I. What is a D-type Iron (D-type bracket)?
D-type iron is a commonly used iron connecting fitting for overhead power lines. It is D/U-shaped and its core function is to fix insulators (pin type, suspension type, guy wire insulators) and connect conductors to poles/crossarms. It belongs to the line foundation support connectors.
II. Product Features
Material: Made of Q235 high-quality carbon steel/malleable cast iron, with a hot-dip galvanized surface (≥70μm), corrosion-resistant, durable, and suitable for harsh outdoor environments. The structure consists of a D-shaped body with bolt holes, and comes with bolts, nuts, and washers for installing and fixing insulators and guy wire fittings.
Simple structure and stable stress: The D-shaped opening design fits snugly to the insulator/guy wire fittings, ensuring even stress distribution, resistance to bending, high tensile strength, and resistance to deformation and breakage.
Corrosion resistant and durable with a long lifespan: Hot-dip galvanized full coverage, resistant to salt spray, rain, sun exposure, acids, and alkalis, with an outdoor service life of 15-20 years.
Easy installation and strong versatility: Standard hole positions, compatible with various pin insulators, suspension insulators, and guy wire insulators, can be directly installed on crossarms/pole/towers without complicated tools.
Complete specifications and customizable: Available in various specifications (single hole/double hole, different widths/thicknesses) according to insulator model, wire diameter, and tensile strength, supporting non-standard customization.
III. Application Scenarios
1. High and low voltage overhead distribution lines
Fixing pin insulators and butterfly insulators on pole crossarms, supporting 10kV/0.4kV 1. **Aluminum stranded wire and steel-cored aluminum stranded wire:** Used for conductor insulation and fixation to poles and towers.
2. **Guard/Anchoring System:** Used in conjunction with guard insulators, UT clamps, and wedge clamps for pole guards, terminal tower anchoring, and tension section fixation, balancing line tension and preventing tower tilting.
3. **Communication/Power Lines on the Same Pole:** Used to fix communication optical cable suspension wires and ADSS optical cable insulators, supporting 5G base station-supporting power/communication lines without increasing the extra load on the poles and towers.
IV. Installation and Usage Precautions
Before installation, check that the D-iron is free of cracks, the galvanized layer is intact, and that the bolts/nuts are complete and meet strength standards.
Insulators should be embedded in the D-iron opening, and bolt tightening torque should meet specifications to prevent loosening and poor connection.
Do not strike or weld the D-iron body to avoid damaging the galvanized layer and structural strength.
Regular inspection: Check for loosening, corrosion, and deformation. In coastal/high-humidity areas, shorten the inspection cycle.
